Portland’s Pioneer Place Mall
Friday 8 April 2016   —   Category: Outings
On the way to the second half of my Burnside Street hike, I had some time to kill in downtown Portland before I grabbed a snack and hit the road. Finding myself at the Pioneer Place mall, I explored it photographically for about thirty minutes.

What a wonderful place to roam with a camera! Soaring wide open spaces, streaming sunlight, fountains, pools, brightly-colored and unusual window displays — these all cried out for photographic attention. The two huge, spectacular glass roofs were particularly eye-catching.

This mall is gigantic, with four interconnected buildings covering four city blocks. You could spend hours in there and still not run out of sights to see.

All too soon my half hour was up. I headed to the Yard House restaurant at 11:00 for a short rest and small snack before my 6¼-mile afternoon walk. I have shared the details of what I ate and drank there in a separate article: Portland Burnside Mini Pub Crawl.

I can’t believe I lived in Oregon nine years before finally discovering Pioneer Place! It would definitely be worth taking the time to explore more fully in the future. I would especially like to spend some quality time in the Apple Store.

I took 35 photos during my short time there. The best 19 have made it into the Portland Pioneer Place Mall 2015 album.
