Portland Rose Garden Quickie
Monday 27 July 2015 — Category: Outings
A few days ago, just before a disappointing evening at the Japanese Garden, I had a bit of spare time, so I wandered around the nearby International Rose Test Garden. Both are located in Washington Park — in the hills only a couple of miles from downtown Portland. For more details about the Rose Garden, you can read the article about my previous visit in early June.
When I took my first photo of a beautiful rose that evening, I immediately noticed that the auto white balance of my camera was way off. So I adjusted the white balance until the colors on the camera’s screen matched what I was seeing with my eyes.
When I was processing the photos in Adobe Lightroom back home, I was amazed and pleased to find that they required very little adjustment — most of them were practically perfect straight out of the camera! This doesn’t happen in my photography nearly as often as I would like.
During my 15 minutes at the Rose Garden I took 20 pictures. The best 9 have been added to the already-existing Portland Rose Garden 2015 album.
