Sunlight or Shade?

It’s that time of the year once again! On this Easter Monday it is fitting to focus on some European-style Easter eggs, traditionally dyed with onion skins, grâce à my Swiss wife:



At first I thought the shot would look best lit by direct sunlight, but I took the above photo in the shade just in case. Once I compared the two, I decided that I like that shade version better. Here’s the sun-lit version:
