Dead Wasps Make Interesting Art
Tuesday 5 August 2014   —   Category: Shooting
Yesterday I got some shots of a dramatic, radiant, neon-salmon-colored rising sun. Today there was a similar sunrise, but the colors were not quite so interesting, and besides, I had already been there and done that.

Still, even though I wasn’t taking pictures of the sunrise, I could still admire it through the kitchen window. As I did so, I noticed a yellow jacket trap, hanging on the neighbor’s house, glowing in the light of the newly-risen sun.

That looked like an interesting shot, but I felt lazy, not wanting to run upstairs to grab my camera. But eventually the nagging artists in me won out, and I took the necessary step to take the photo. It turned out pretty good, so I thought I would share it here.

The image to the right is a close-up crop of the original picture — as usual you can click on it to see a larger version, then go to the previous photo to see the uncropped version.

This picture goes to show that when the lighting is right, even dead wasps can make interesting art!
