Monteith Park Photo Outing
Monday 14 November 2011 — Category: Outings
Monteith Riverpark in the autumn around sunrise. The sky was just starting to lighten up, but the park lights, on old-fashioned lampposts, were still glowing amidst the flaming leaves. It was a captivating sight, but I did not have my camera with me at the time. I had always wanted to go back and capture that view, but never seemed to get around to it.
Well, last evening I finally made it happen! I drove down to the park around sunset and took around 25 shots at various points in the park. There’s only a limited window of opportunity to get shots like these. If you go too early in the season, the leaves are not the right color. And then it rains so much in Oregon at this time of the year, it’s hard to find a day with suitable weather. Also, if you wait too long, a big storms blows through, and all of the leaves fall off the trees, just like that! Fortunately, everything came together for me this time.
This was my first outing with my new Sony Alpha α77 camera — it maiden voyage! You can see the 9 resulting images in the Albany Autumn 2011 photo album.
