Hot Air Rising
Tuesday 15 July 2014   —   Category: Shooting
Right after I finished playing hide and seek with the supermoon, I glanced up towards the east and saw a hot air balloon silhouetted against dramatic sunrise clouds. Since I already had my pocket camera in hand, it was easy to take a few shots. With its 500mm (equivalent) 20x zoom, I was able to bring myself fairly close to the action.

This photo somewhat reminds me of a similar shot I took about three years ago. Of course, that award-winning photo was even more impressive because I was able to capture the balloon as it was traversing the face of the sun. Nevertheless, the more-modest picture I took this time around still has a beauty and appeal of its own.

As usual, you can click on the photo to see a larger version, and then click to the next image to see a second photo. Both images are also presented in black and white — look for the link in the picture’s caption.
