Sidewalk Art
Saturday 7 June 2014   —   Category: Shooting
Yesterday on my daily neighborhood walk I stepped over this twig and leaf as I was striding down the sidewalk. It took a few seconds for my brain to register that there was something attractive about this scene. Then I stopped, turned around, and went back to examine it more closely.

I didn’t arrange anything in this image — the twig and leaf are just where I found them. I like how they look connected ... it kind of reminds me of a long stemmed rose. The moss in the crack not only adds interest because of its color, but also because of the angle it’s at compared to the twig and leaf.

I got out my ever-present pocket camera and experimented with various compositions. In the end, this is the one I liked the best. As usual, you can click on the photo to see a larger version.

Over the past few years I have been amazed at the artwork that nature creates on the sidewalk, right in my own neighborhood! In fact, I even dedicated an entire photo album to such works of art — see Autumn Leaves 2012.
