Dangling In Camera Limbo
Friday 21 January 2011   —   Category: Equipment
Goodbye dear friend! Parting is such sweet sorrow!

After about four-and-a-half years of faithful photographic service, today I sold my Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ50. on It had been listed for only five days. It sold for $300, which is pretty good considering I paid $536 for it new — seems like it held it’s value pretty well. Of course, there were a couple of additional accessories included, like a 2 GB memory card, an extra battery, and a UV filter, which pushed the original cost to around $685, but still, I think I did pretty well considering the camera is over four years old.

All of the photo albums on this Web site that are dated 2006 through 2009 were taken with this camera, with the exception of the Washington DC 2008 album, for which I used my wife’s Canon PowerShot SD550 because I had wanted to travel light on that trip. I will probably remember this camera most for my Highway 97 South 2007 week-long road trip.

So, photographically, where does that leave me now? Dangling in camera limbo, that’s where! I am now cameraless, but I have not yet nailed down what the replacement will be. Well, since it’s the dead of winter, I've still got some time to come to a decision before the outdoor photographic season arrives.
