Oregon Mid-July June Gloom
Wednesday 18 July 2012   —   Category: Shooting

The nine-month-long Oregon rainy season finally ended around the beginning of July. After a couple short weeks of sunshine and warm weather, the Oregon June gloom is back with vengeance! Yesterday morning I awoke to peals of thunder, flashes of lightning, and pouring rain!

Four days ago there was a dramatic sunrise, as you can see in the first photo (click to see larger), which I took from my backyard. The tall trees across the meadow near our house make a nice addition to the scene.

This morning on my daily neighborhood walk, I encountered a sunrise rainbow across another nearby meadow. I don’t know that I have ever seen a rainbow at 6:15 in the morning before!

As I have written numerous times in past articles, photo ops are constantly occurring around us, if we only have the photographic eyes to see, and a camera at hand. That’s why I've decided to always have a camera with me. That way, I will have less regrets for missed shots.

I postponed my outing plans for today, but hope to spend Friday enjoying the great Oregon outdoors — IF the gloom can be banished back to June!
