Oregon June Gloom Moon

This morning I awoke shortly before 6:00. After I had made the short commute across the hallway from my bedroom to my home office, I looked out the window, and saw a beautiful full moon, with nearby storm clouds approaching. Not wanting to take a photo through the window, I grabbed my camera and headed downstairs. But from the front porch I was too low to see the moon over the top of the neighboring two-story houses. So back upstairs I went.

By the time I reached the window again, the clouds were much closer to the moon, and were soon going to cover it. I was able to get a handful of shots before the moon was completely swallowed up by the storm clouds. The photo here was my favorite of the bunch — you can click on it to see a larger version.

If the past is any guide, a few months of summer weather should finally reach Oregon by the end of the month. Although I’m longing to head out on numerous photographic outings, I’m actually in no hurry, because I’m still trying to process all of the pictures I took during my outing to Southeastern Oregon in April and the Southwestern Oregon coast in May. On that note, I had better get back to work ....
