Best of Food & Cooking 2016 — photo 29 of 50: A Monkey Puzzle Upside-Down Cake which I indulged in at the McMenamins Oak Hills Brewpub in Beaverton, Oregon, in the western part of the Portland metro area. According to the menu, it consisted of marionberries atop a cake infused with almond extract and our Edgefield Monkey Puzzle whiskey, marionberry-honey sauce, topped with whipped cream and a mint leaf. My notes from that day read: “This dessert was fairly good, but not awesome ... once is probably enough. The blackberry cider pairing was excellent!” September 2016. Camera used: Olympus OM-D E-M5 with Panasonic Lumix 12-35mm f/2.8 zoom lens.
