McMenamins Beer (All Years) — photo 9 of 128: A pint of Beans and Biscuits IPA that I enjoyed on National Beer Day at McMenamins Monroe Brewpub in Corvallis, Oregon. According to the brewer:
“Sometimes when the cupboard is bare, beans and biscuits are a welcome sight. If there were no other beers available, an IPA would also be a happy find. This medium-bodied American standard is a golden hoppy beer with a certain zip, tang, pow.” Measurements: 6.5% ABV • 78 IBUMy notes from that day read: “This beer has a unique taste I can’t quite place. They used Pilsen malt in the brewing ... which fits, because this beer seems like a hoppy Pilsner. This is the kind of IPA I like ... bitter-hoppy rather than fruity-hoppy. But it’s not too bitter ... there’s a pretty good balance. I can’t believe I like an IBU 78 beer! It has a strange name but satisfying taste ... I would get it again.” April 2018.
