McMenamins Beer (All Years) — photo 129 of 140: A pint of Tony’s Beer I enjoyed at McMenamins’ historic (built 1860) Boon’s Treasury pub in downtown Salem, Oregon. According to the brewer:
“Official full name: This Is A Beer For A Superhero Named Tony. It’s Called Tony’s Beer. If only our beer descriptions came equipped with a theme song! Pixie fans will get the reference. This one goes out to Tony Stiltz, one of the handful of folks who work on fixing all the things in the [McMenamins] Kingdom. After saving the day by fixing the Thompson Brewery’s water heater, we had to make a beer for him. It’s a dry-hopped, copper-hued lager to honor all you superheroes!” Measurements: 6.5% ABV • 36 IBU
My notes from that day read: “A good red ale ... along the lines of the others I like, such as my favorites Free Range Red and Proletariat Red ... it is a bit hoppy, but nicely balanced. I would get it again.” March 2018. Camera used: Olympus OM-D E-M5 with Olympus 12-100mm f/4.0 zoom lens.
