McMenamins Beer (All Years) — photo 109 of 140: A sample of Sinister Hops IPA I tried at the McMenamins Old Church and Pub, located in the southern Portland metro area city of Wilsonville, Oregon. According to the brewer:
“It’s not as sinister as you may think. We used a simple grain base of Superior Pilsen and Crystal 15 malts with Centennial, Mosaic and Meridian hops in the boil and dry-hopping. You’ll notice fruity, tropical citrus aromas with an earthy pine flavor and hints of berry and mango. This IPA is almost troublesome it’s so well-rounded.” Measurements: 6.3% ABV • 67 IBU
My notes from that day read: “Tried a sample. Pretty much a typical moderate IPA, along the lines of Sunflower IPA ... it was OK, but not what I’m looking for right now.” March 2018. Camera used: Olympus OM-D E-M5 with Olympus 12-100mm f/4.0 zoom lens.
