McMenamins Beer (All Years) — photo 119 of 140: A pint of Square & Compass Cascadian Amber that I enjoyed at the Ironwork Grill on the McMenamins Grand Lodge property in the western Portland metro suburb of Forest Grove. According to the brewer:
“The Grand Lodge is nearing its 96th Birthday, and the Crystal Brewery has concocted a unique beer for the celebration. ‘Square and Compass’ is a Cascadian Amber Ale. Cascadian implies that the hops are a large part of the flavor and aroma profile. Amber refers not only to its color, but its hop balancing, malty sweetness. Thank you for celebrating this wonderful event with us!” Measurements: 5.3% ABV • 35 IBUMy notes from that day read: “Really good ... malty, but with enough hops to give it a nice balance ... I would definitely get it again. I wish I could have it in cans/bottles at home!” March 2018. Camera used: Olympus OM-D E-M5 with Olympus 12-100mm f/4.0 zoom lens.
