McMenamins Beer (All Years) — photo 16 of 106: A sample of Brussel Stout which I tried at the McMenamins Spar Café in Olympia, the capital of Washington. According to the brewer:
“For this stout we blended a clean-fermenting American Ale yeast with a fruity, ester-heavy Abbey Ale yeast to create a very unique dark ale. The Brussel Stout (get it?) draws its lighter body, complete with hints of clove, from its Belgian side and its deep, dark roasted flavors from its American side. It’s a yeast collaboration in a glass.” Measurements: 6.1% ABV • 33 IBUMy notes from that day read: “After repeated attempts over the past couple of years, I finally realize that I’m just not into stouts anymore ... too stouty.” August 2017. Camera used: Olympus OM-D E-M5 with Panasonic Lumix 12-35mm f/2.8 zoom lens.
