McMenamins Beer (All Years) — photo 12 of 140: Big Bertha’s Bitter was one of six samples in the beer flight I tried at the McMenamins Queen Anne Pub in downtown Seattle, Washington. According to the brewer:
“This Best Bitter showcases all of the hallmarks of British brewing: Maris Otter Pale Malt, Goldings hops and crystal malts. The taste is bready, biscuity and full of caramel with some hop bitterness to balance it all out. It’s a beer that’s easy to drink, so feel free to have a few in one sitting. Cheers to Bertha.” Measurements: 4.9% ABV • 32 IBU
My notes from that day read: “A bit bitter and a bit watery at the same time ... I wouldn'’ get it again.” 2 August 2017. Camera used: Olympus OM-D E-M5 with Olympus 12-100mm f/4.0 zoom lens.
