McMenamins Beer (All Years) — photo 13 of 100: Brexit Deux Strong Bitter was one of six samples in the beer flight I tried at the McMenamins Mill Creek Brewpub in the northern Seattle metro area suburb of Mill Creek, Washington. According to the brewer:
“An alteration to a lighter recipe, this one is a malty, hoppy specialty. It’s composed of six different kinds of malts and one hop variety: Goldings. Goldings are known as a floral hop, but are very subdued. You could call this hop an elder, as it’s been cultivated since the late 1700s. Although this style is named strong bitter, the malts and slight hop character don’t impart a huge amount of bitterness. Cheers to the Brits!” Measurements: 6.1% ABV • 33 IBU
My notes from that day read: “A bit like a red ale ... it’s OK, but I woulnd’t want a full pint.” 1 August 2017. Camera used: Olympus OM-D E-M5 with Olympus 12-100mm f/4.0 zoom lens.
