McMenamins Miscellaneous 2016 — photo 6 of 11: A McMenamins Blue Rider Pale ale (on nitro) that I had at their Murray & Allen Pub in Beaverton, Oregon, in the western part of the Portland metro area. According to the brewer:
“Blue Rider is pale ale very similar to Hammerhead with a few adjustments to make it the perfect pint off of the nitro tap. Flaked oats were added to give the beer nice body and a creamy head. To complement the mouthfeel, we added layers of toffee- and biscuit-flavored malts and a bunch of late-addition Cascade Hops, resulting in a simple, silky pale ale with more malt flavor than hop bite.” Measurements: 5.3% ABV • 26 IBUMy notes from that day read: “The beer wasn’t that great ... it wasn’t anything like Hammerhead ... I definitely wouldn’t get it again ... I should have gotten the blackberry cider!” September 2016. Camera used: Olympus OM-D E-M5 with Panasonic Lumix 12-35mm f/2.8 zoom lens.
