McMenamins Miscellaneous 2016 — photo 2 of 11: An El Diablo sandwich, which I had at the McMenamins Greenway Pub in Tigard, Oregon. The menu described it as “spiced chicken breast, pepper jack, and avocado on a bun with chipotle mayo, lettuce, tomato and red onion.” It sounded great, but the reality didn’t live up to the description or my expectations. I nixed the avocado, and paid an extra dollar for a side salad instead of fries, bringing the total for the sandwich to a spendy $13.60. Unfortunately, I was so occupied interacting with my son that I forget to take a picture of my meal before I started eating. But in the end it was no big loss, because it wasn’t particularly worthy of being photographed.
My notes from that day read: “Sandwich was kind of dry and just average — not bad, but not great. A charbroiled chicken club sandwich at Carl’s Jr. is MUCH better and less than half the price! The side green salad with blue cheese dressing was small, but OK. The whole meal is WAY overpriced, like double what it’s worth!” June 2016. Camera used: Olympus OM-D E-M5 with Panasonic Lumix 12-35mm f/2.8 zoom lens.
