McMenamins Cornelius Pass 2016 — photo 53 of 74: Cerberus Wild Ale was one of the samples I tried at the 15th Annual Roadhouse Brewfest on the McMenamins Cornelius Pass Roadhouse property in Hillsboro, Oregon, in the western Portland metro area. According to the brewer:
“Tart and funky, this three-headed beast is a blend of a mild wheat ale, a Dunkelweizen, and a Berliner Weisse. All three wheat beers were aged together for four months in a former Hogshead Whiskey barrel from the Edgefield Distillery. It was then inoculated with a Belgian yeast, Brettanomyces Bruxellensis, to create a pleasant and earthy tang that pervades this balanced wild ale. The whiskey barrel has its own singular character that’s been home to generations of tasty wild ales over the past three years.” Measurements: 6.2% ABV • 13 IBUMy notes from that day read: “It’s OK ... it’s pretty lemony-sour ... great if you want alcoholic lemon drops!” 16 July 2016.
