In August 2016 I made my first visit to the McMenamins Grand Lodge in the western Portland metro suburb of Forest Grove, which resulted in the McMenamins Grand Lodge 2016 photo album.

I returned to the Grand Lodge for a second time on February 11, 2017, for the grand opening celebration of their 22 new attic hotel rooms.

The party started at 11:45 AM with a ribbon cutting at the main entrance to the Lodge. Wielding the huge ceremonial scissors was none other than Mike McMenamin, who along with his brother Brian, are the founders and owners of the McMenamins Pacific Northwest brewpub empire.

After a marching-band-led procession up to the third-floor attic, I took some time to explore the gorgeous new rooms and hallways, replete with paintings by the the McMenamins artists. Food and drink samples were being served throughout the attic, and stealth entertainment was provided by opera singer Sadie Gregg of Opera On Tap Portland. Of special interest was the Tolkien-inspired secret passageway.

I spent a total of about 45 minutes exploring the attic during the time it was open to the public. I took 41 photos while I was up there. The best 27 shots from the attic make up the majority of this album, along with 20 other keepers (out of 59 taken) from elsewhere on the property.
