In less than two weeks during August 2016, I made two visits to the McMenamins Old Church and Pub,
located in the southern Portland metro area
city of Wilsonville.
Opened in 2011, this property features a large, modern, two-story restaurant adjacent to the historic (built 1911) United Methodist Church
which McMenamins renovated into an event hall on the upper floor, and a brewery and bar on the lower floor.
The first visit, and my first time at this venue, was after helping my Swiss daughter move to the Portland area on Swiss National Day
(August 1st — kind of like our 4th of July), and then going on a SW Portland McMenamins mini pub crawl.
On my way home to Albany
I made one last stop in Wilsonville for a final beer.
Eleven days later I returned to the Old Church and Pub to celebrate its fifth birthday and the grand opening of the Undercroft Bar
in the ground-level basement of the church. During the hot summer afternoon I had lunch, enjoyed a couple of beers, took a tour of the brewery, indulged in some birthday cake, and listened to live music performed by The Stevens Hess Band.
All in all, during both visits I took a total of 74 pictures. The best 34 are presented in this album. The first 14 were taken on August 1, and the remaining 20 are from August 12.
