As I am working on completing my McMenamins Passport adventure
by the end of 2017, I am visiting many of their 116 venues
, both large and small. I have noticed that they generally fall into one of two categories.
Some of their locations, like Edgefield, Kennedy School, Cornelius Pass Roadhouse,
and numerous others, are historic properties
which usually have a lot of character, and often interesting menus. Another group of pubs are housed in fairly-modern buildings with no historical significance. Not only do these locations have fairly boring architecture, but they often seem to have mundane, run-of-the-mill pub-fare menus as well.
These boring buildings and menus can easily result in boring photographs. While I might take hundreds of pictures at one of their historic properties, I might take just a few at the less interesting locations. Consequently, there is really no need for each of these lesser locations to each have its own photo album.
Last year I established the McMenamins Miscellaneous 2016
album to handle these cases. But the inaugural photos for this year’s album don’t really fit the scenario I described above. My first outing to Edgefield
last year was so rich that I ended up creating four separate albums
to hold the abundance of photos. In contrast, my February 2017 visit to Edgefield for a “History Pub” event was not really a photo outing.
Therefore, I have only five pictures from that trip that are worth sharing, which are not enough for a new, separate Edgefield album. Consequently, I have created this McMenamins Miscellaneous 2017 album for these five photos. I still have a lot of McMenamins venues to visit this year, so I know that I will be adding many more pictures to this album.
