In August I went for a hike in Portland
with my eldest daughter, Joanne, who lives a ways west of Portland, while I like a ways south of Portland. For most of the outing we were following the Aerial Tram & Council Crest
hike from 100 Hikes in Northwest Oregon & Southwest Washington.
by Oregon’s “hiker laureate,” William Sullivan.
Once we reached Council Crest Park,
we took a little detour a bit over a mile southeast along Council Crest Drive to Sentinel Hill, where the 625-foot Stonehenge Radio Tower
is located. Not only is this tower visible from all over the Portland metro area,
but you can actually stand underneath it as well. As you can see in this album, this close vantage point makes for some great shots!
Because it was overcast when we arrived, the photos were somewhat difficult to process back home. In the end, I decided to go with a color splash
look, with the tower in color, but the background in black and white. I am quite happy with how these images turned out.
