In July of 2010 I headed north to spend some days exploring the region around the highest point in Oregon: Mount Hood. You can see the photos of this stunning hunk of rock and snow in the Mount Hood 2010 album.

One morning I got up early and headed even further north to the Columbia River Gorge, where I eventually came to Eagle Creek.

This is one of the most popular and magnificent trails in all of Oregon, and can be very crowded at times. But I got up at 4:30 so I could start hiking by 6:30 and beat the crowd (and the heat). In all it took me seven hours to complete the 13-mile round-trip hike, including lots of stops for photos and videos, and half an hour for lunch. I've been on quite a few hikes over the years, and I would have to say that this one was really spectacular. It's much more impressive in person — the pictures just don't do it justice. I hope that you get to see it in person one day — it's definitely worth it!
