This album features pictures which were shot from the historic (built 1912), one-of-a-kind Steel Bridge,
as well as from the historic (built 1910) Hawthorne Bridge,
a mile further upriver — both of which span the Willamette River
in downtown Portland,
Bridges make wonderful platforms for photography! They provide a unique point of view of the sights on each side of the river which you can’t get while standing on terra firma. In addition, many bridges are photogenic works of art in and of themselves.
Portland has twelve bridges across the Willamette within its city limits. Of course, not all of them can be crossed on foot, but most of them can. Seeing that I have taken pictures from only two of them, I still have plenty of opportunities to look forward to!
